| A little bit of luck goes a long way. Part One |

$3.30 MTT So it's Saturday and it's with a free evening I decide to play an MTT. I fold a lot of hands before my first chance comes up. I've spotted a gambler and look to get him heads up. I do and this is the result of him calling my all in on the flop.
My two pair counterfeited as he calls for his tournament life with nothing!!! Down 2000 already, but with the blinds so low I know that I don't have to gamble too soon. I make a lot of fold to start with including 106, 35, Q10, 93, 64 etc.
A hand worth shoving takes me back up to 1330.
I limp in a 6 way pot on the button at 100/200. Take it down with a shove. A raise with QQ goes unanswered. All in on the flop and called. Bad turn but a saving river keeps me in!
I patiently fold more trash then pick up 99.
It was limped 4 handed and I shoved. Man I didn't see Jacks coming but I catch a break, my second bit of luck in a few hands.
No complaints, dodged a runner to split. Now this guy has gone on tilt. He's shoved for around 15000 for 3 hands in a row. I call him and double up.
I bet out here and scoop the pot
Finally I'm taught a lesson
Idiotic play. My shoving in position with flush draws was caught out! Jaguar shoved his last few hundred in and I shoved over the top. Not the brightest idea! And I'm punished. I shove in the small blind and BB calls when its just the two of us.
Next up I hit just what you need in an MTT when the blinds are starting to increase. A run of cards. I raise in middle position with KK, K10s and pick up blinds + ante‘s twice. Then I get KK again!
I feel much better now and I have plenty to play with A few raises with AQ, J9, 78 take the pot. Aggressive blind stealing is really all this is. AQ would be the only hand contemplating calling a reraise. I waste 8k on a bluff, he shoves the turn. Bad idea from my part.
I tighten up big again. I'm constantly changing my game between loose and tight based on how the table is playing. They're getting reckless for a bit so I tighten up to stay out of trouble. Blinds now 300/600 a70 AK and then AA, no takers
I raise with A10 s twice in a row to no takers Catch Part Two tomorrow. |

A little bit of luck goes a long way. Part One

It's a horrible game sometimes. I was cruising in a tournament playing some great poker. My reads were excellent, I was playing aggressive and I was no where near a coinflip situation. I just keep making sure when I was in, I was ahead! 5 mins from the second break and having doubled twice with KQ on xxQKx and A8d on flush+straight board i was cruising on 12000 chips at 150/300. My BB comes up and i have KK. Oh yeah, everything seems to be going well. Villain (9.5k) raised to 900, shortstack (with 3300) comes along. Pot is 2k. No sense wasting time. I have them both covered and do not want to let them see a flop and hope to at least get the shortstack to call. I'm all in. Villain calls, and shorty gets out the way. He shows AA and i'm toasted back to 8bb. Cruel beat but even when you play your absolute best you can't avoid that situation! |
